Today is the anniversary of the Printing Office that began operation on March 4, 1861. You can still find documents today on the website of the U.S. Government Publishing Office. In the 1970's, you could find valuable seafood publications issued by the Department of the Interior and the Department of Commerce. If any of this sounds familiar, you might remember my previous post about the Superintendent of Documents. In the 1970's, 80's, and even 90's you had to request certain government publications or go find them at the library.
