Where Are You From
"The words you apply to certain household tasks and items may indicate in which part of the U.S. you now live or came from."
Regional Dialects
For Example: I am from Texas. We have some words and phrases that will only be found in Texas.
Y'all
The most commonly known Texas slang.
Fixin' to
A little less known phrase. For example, "It's fixin' to rain."
A-Prefixing
If you are confused let me enlighten you, "He come a-running out the barn."
If you were giggling just wait.
Let's take a look at the north.
In Boston you might refer to a soda as tonic or you might merge your vowels.
For example: Doll might be pronounced "Dahl" or it might be "Dahk" outside so be careful driving your "Cah".
In the south we refer to pizza simply as pizza where in the north you might call it a pie.

I moved from the South to the Pacific Northwest and I let a "y'all" slip and everyone took notice!
I've been told I don't have an accent but what I say and terms I apply to things definitely show I am not from around these parts.
